Girl Scouts Inspired at Smartshop Metal Arts Center

Girl Scouts Rock!

November 8, 2008- As part of the Smartshop Metal Arts Center's ongoing mission to teach, support, promote, and practice the metal arts, we regularly offer a series of Girl Scout programs tailored toward empowering and educating girls of all ages.  On November 8, artist blacksmith and executive director Holly Fisher offered her knowledge about the history of metal working, metals technology, the importance of art, and gave an inspiring blacksmithing demonstration using a traditional coal-fueled forge, an anvil, and a lot of neat hammers!

At the end of the demonstration the troop had a new marshmallow stick/hot dog roaster to take with them.   We loved having the girls visit us, and hope to have more Girl Scouts visit soon. And what did the girls like about the program? "Everything!"
