Students will learn how to safely use a coal forge, anvil, hammer, and tongs while developing elementary blacksmithing skills.
Saturday Open Studio is a great way for you to enjoy SMAC's studio and work on your own project. You must have taken at least one SMAC class in the last two years to be eligible. Monitors will be on hand to help you enjoy your day and make great things. Don't worry if you've forgotten some things, we'll be happy to remind you. Metals identification, hand forging techniques, normalizing, hardening, tempering, and sharpening demonstrations will help you make a beautiful, functional knife.
